When I heard about this name I thought it was something where boys kept some of their stuff, but I did research and found that it is a social media disaster. Social media is good to connect and make your connection strong. Social media have a fantabulous positive impact and also a dark phase that comes through this incident.
Buzzing all around on Indian social media with conversations on rape culture, sexism over the past few days. Incident happened at capital Delhi where a group created on Instagram named “Bois Locker Room”. The participants of this group are all-boys’ maximum teens from various parts of Delhi from high profile schools. A storm of screenshots of chats going onI social media. In their chats it’s clearly visible they are talking about very vulgar things about girls. Sharing repugnant morphed pictures of their school girls and making lewd comments. This scandal comes with lots of question marks on social media.

First of all you need to know some basic points on the Bois Locker Room scandal.
·
An Instagram group chat called Bois Locker created by a group of South Delhi teens (mostly school-boys) creates a Room to share photos of women (many of them underage). This group chat clearly involves discussions objectifying women and abusive sexual language.
·
Screenshots of the chats clearly shows that the controversy chats had morphed pictures and also derogatory and manifest comments on women and their bodies. This spread like fire on social media.
·
Delhi Police Cyber Cell files an FIR against unidentified persons under Sections of the Indian Penal Code and the IT Act. The first legal case to come out of an Instagram chat in India. The investigation is going on.
·
Instagram owner Facebook also reacts to the controversy. "We absolutely do not allow behavior that promotes sexual violence or exploits anyone, especially women and young people, and have actioned content violating our Community Standards as we were made aware of it. We have policies that disallow the sharing of non-consensual intimate imagery, as well as threats to share such imagery and we take this issue very seriously. Ensuring our community can express themselves in a safe and respectful way is our top priority,” a Facebook spokesperson said in a statement.
Now the point is not only about Bois locker room or Girls locker room but the main concern is where our youth is heading. We always try to communicate with our children about various things. We need to understand what your children are finding on social media to engage them to make clear that they are able to find what is right or what is the internet. Don’t be a possessive parent but a smart parent. Parents make them a good human being. I know everyone is busy making money but why are should be more open with their children. Listen to their thoughts, don’t pressurize them but listen carefully to what they think. A proper guidance but make it good for your child it all depends on your hand. Guide them to take you earning, for your children, for your family, right? So give them their time too, be in touch with your children. Social media is not a bad place. As parents, we should take baby steps to understand the recent generation point of view.
Parenting is tough but a parent is always ready for a tough one, don’t you?
